Cleantech Open Southeast Recognizes Three Finalists for Innovation in Clean Energy

Atlanta, Mississippi and Washington D.C. Claim 2014 Innovation Summit Awards

ALEXANDRIA, Va., October 24, 2014 The Cleantech Open Southeast named three regional finalists at the 3rd Annual Cleantech Open Southeast Regional Innovation Summit and Gala in Alexandria, Virginia. The three finalists were selected from the 21 participants that entered this year’s regional accelerator program. Atlanta-based, DPG Energy, received both finalist and sustainability awards. Mississippi based NG1 Tech and Washington, D.C. based BitGrid, Inc. received finalists awards.

As regional finalists, the startups will receive a “Startup in a Box” package that includes cash and in-kind services worth up to $20,000 and will advance to compete for the national grand prize of $200,000 at the Cleantech Open’s Global Forum, November 12-13 in San Francisco.

“The Cleantech Open Southeast created an ecosystem that we could not have succeeded without. We are very thankful for this growing and learning experience,” said Bill Malcolm, CEO of DPG Energy.  “We are extremely elated and proud to receive both finalist and sustainability recognition.”

“The accelerator proagram is a great avenue for innovation in the southeast region,” said Cynthia O’Donnell, CEO of NG1 Tech. “We were honored to be able to participate in the Cleantech Open Southeast this year and are flattered to be recognized for this award in the cleantech space.”

“We are grateful for this validation from the Cleantech Open Southeast and look forward to using the resources to move our technology forward,” BitGrid CTO Sahil Talwar explained. “BitGrid delivers the ideal communications platform for utilities to inform others of their needs during emergencies.”

“This year’s class of accelerator participants was the strongest we’ve seen thanks to the exponential growth the cleantech industry has experienced in the Southeast region,” said Joshua C. Greene, executive director and co-founder of the Cleantech Open Southeast. “We congratulate our regional finalists on their creative and innovative solutions to solving the world’s biggest sustainability and energy challenges.”
